A significant mid-level disturbance, with an associated surface low, moved southeast across southern Vermont during the late morning and early afternoon on the 30th. Snow began across Vermont around dawn and ended by mid to late afternoon with snowfall accumulations of 2 to 6 inches with isolated greater amounts in higher elevations. Roads were extremely hazardous with dozens of motor vehicle accidents throughout the state, including an accident in Groton that involved a car and a snow plow truck, which resulted in two indirect fatalities.
Some specific snowfall totals included: 3 inches at NWS Burlington in South Burlington (Chittenden), Greensboro (Orleans), North Calais (Washington), Jeffersonville (Lamoille), Sutton (Caledonia), Swanton and St. Albans (Franklin), Rochester, Woodstock and Chester (Windsor)...4 inches in Stannard and St. Johnsbury (Caledonia), Randolph (Orange), Starksboro (Addison), Springfield (Windsor), Essex (Chittenden), Rutland (Rutland), Eden (Lamoille)...5 inches at Groton (Caledonia), Center Rutland (Rutland), Bethel (Windsor), Plainfield (Washington), Brookfield and Corinth (Orange) and 6 inches at Chelsea (Orange), Walden (Caledonia), Jericho (Chittenden), Stowe and Morrisville (Lamoille), Waterbury, Worcester, Northfield and Waitsfield (Washington).
