Event narrative
Rainfall amounts continued to be meager, with most areas between eight to twelve inches below normal for the year. There were sporadic reports of localized water rationing, however most communities were still under normal water usage. Although most crops around the region were definitely feeling the stress of the drought, the extent of crop losses around the area is unknown at this time.
Wider weather episode
The Severe Drought (D2 classification) continued from June through the end of the month of July, with coastal counties as well as portions of Columbus and Bladen counties classified as Extreme Drought (D3).
