Lightning struck a one hundred thirty-nine year old church and caused a fire. Firefighters from 3 communities battled the fire for several hours. Major damage occurred to the roof and steeple but falling debris and water damaged the exposed interior. The building was later declared a total loss with estimates of $1.2 million to replace it.
