The first heat wave of the summer hit the St. Louis Metropolitan Area area in early June. High temperatures rose into the upper 90s with the Heat Index ranging form 100 - 105. The St. Louis County Health Department reported 39 people treated and released and 7 admitted for heat related illnesses at county hospitals. The City of St. Louis reported 13 people treated at city hospitals. There was one death in the City of St. Louis. A 52 year old female was found dead in her home. The home had air conditioning but it was not turned on.
