Event narrative
Lightning apparently started a fire near the community of Carolina Forest. Ongoing hot temperatures and drought conditions allowed the fire to breach containment lines several times. The blaze consumed 1374 acres before being contained on July 29th. No homes were damaged or threatened in spite of the fire's close proximity to the Carolina Forest subdivision.
