What EF0 means. On the Enhanced Fujita scale, EF0 is light damage: shingles and siding peeled, gutters torn, branches broken, consistent with estimated gusts of 65–85 mph. The rating comes from a survey of the worst damage after the storm, not from a wind measurement, so it says as much about what the tornado hit as about how strong it was.

What the National Weather Service wrote

A weak tornado touched down and ripped siding and a portion of the roof off a metal boat storage building, snapped a couple of small trees, destroyed a storage shed at a residence, and moved a shipping container 30 feet. Maximum wind speed was estimated at 80 mph, path width was 30 yards, path length was 400 yards.

The wider storm

Low pressure moving across the lower Mississippi River Valley pushed a cold front through the area. A line of thunderstorms developed in advance of the front and produced a tornado over Plaquemines Parish.

Began near Venice (29.3038, -89.3808).
