The Edisto Buoy (41004) reported a wind gust of 52 mph or 45 knots.
Wider weather episode
A strong cold front associated with a vigorous upper level trough crossed the region during the day. In response to the tight pressure gradient, strong winds developed out ahead of the front as well as in the cold advection behind it. Thunderstorms developed across the adjacent Atlantic Coastal Waters causing strong thunderstorm wind gusts.
