Event narrative

The Dripping Springs RAWS west of the Organ Mountains reported a peak gust of

78 mph. A mesonet station at Talavera reported a wind gust to 64 mph and a trained spotter 3 miles west of Organ reported a gust to 59 mph. A roof was blown off a trailer and a fence damaged about 2 miles west-southwest of Organ about 9 PM.

Wider weather episode

A strong upper low was stationary over far Southwest Arizona with a strong area of high pressure building into the central plains helping to push a back door cold front through the region. Western mountain slopes saw wind gusts in excess of 60 mph.
