Severe thunderstorms impacted the waters of Lake Huron in advance of a strong cold front. This was the first major severe weather event of the season, producing both damaging wind gusts and large hail. One storm actually produced wind gusts up to 80 MPH over Saginaw Bay and was responsible for blowing down a large coal stacker at the power plant on the mouth of the Saginaw River.
