A 69 year old woman was killed when a tree fell on the van she was driving in two miles northeast of Bloomingdale in Van Buren county on 38 and 1/2 street near county road 380.

A strong low pressure system moved across the northern Great Lakes region on April 16th, resulting in numerous wind gusts in the 45 to 55 mph range across lower Michigan. A woman was killed when a tree fell on the van she was driving in two miles northeast of Bloomingdale in Van Buren county. A carnival ride was blown down in Jackson. A peak wind gust of 55 mph was measured at the Kalamazoo International Airport and also two miles south of Holland.
