The emergency manager reported dime to penny size hail.

Wider weather episode

Severe storms developed across portions of central and eastern New Mexico during the afternoon hours. Moisture increased across the eastern two thirds of the state behind the passage of a backdoor cold front the day before. This led to better coverage of thunderstorms during the afternoon. Eastern portions of the state were in a slight risk area from the Storm Prediction Center. Numerous reports of severe thunderstorm wind gusts, large hail, and even funnel clouds were received.
