A short but intense Heat Wave hit Southwest Illinois from July 10 - 12. High temperatures were in the upper 90s to around 100 with the Heat Index from 110 - 115. Belleville had a high Heat Index of 121 on July 12. There were two deaths reported. One in Madison County and the other in St. Clair County.
