The combination of heavy rainfall in excess of an inch, residual winter snowpack in the uplands, and frozen ground in spots caused the Crooked Creek near Central to flood. The water levels peaked during the afternoon hours on the 28th, and at 1345AKST water was entering the museum. Water also flooded residential yards and some roadways adjacent to Crooked Creek on the north side of the Steese Highway.
