Event narrative

A nineteen-year-old male ventured onto a submerged sandbar and was carried into deeper water by wave action and currents. The event was witnessed by an additional swimmer and the victim's body was found the next day.

Wider weather episode

Tropical Storm Beryl impacted east central Florida during May 27-29. Rainbands directly related to the tropical storm impacted mainly areas north of a line from Orlando to Cape Canaveral. Indirect impacts occurred farther south as additional rainbands developed during daytime heating and produced scattered thunderstorms with heavy rain, gusty winds, and an isolated short-lived tornado.
