The Treutlen County 911 Center reported that quarter size hail fell just east of Soperton.
Wider weather episode
A surface trough stretching from the Carolinas to east central Georgia interacted with an upper low moving across the Deep South on the afternoon of May 22. Scattered thunderstorms developed, with several becoming strong. Isolated storms became severe across central Georgia, with large hail and damaging winds reported.
