Hail was estimated at 1 inch one mile west southwest of Georgetown.
Wider weather episode
A large Pacific trough of low pressure approached western Montana in early June, setting up a moist southwest flow over the region. In addition, day time heating produced a very unstable atmosphere, which created an environment conducive to thunderstorms with heavy rain, hail, and strong winds.
