A spotter measured hail of 1.75 inch diameter.
Wider weather episode
A large Pacific trough of low pressure approached Idaho setting up a moist southwest flow aloft. In addition, day time heating produced a very unstable atmosphere, which was conducive to thunderstorms with heavy rain, hail, and strong winds.
