A wind gust of 37 knots was measured at a Weatherflow automated station on Upper Matecumbe Key.

A deep middle and upper level trough of low pressure and its attendant surface trough extended across the Florida Peninsula to the Yucatan Peninsula. As the surface trough moved slowly eastward through the Florida Keys, numerous showers and thunderstorms produced gale-force wind gusts.
