Event narrative
An 89 year old man in Ballwin died form heat related causes. The home had air conditioning but it was not working properly. The Health Department also reported 34 heat related cases treated at area emergency rooms.
Wider weather episode
Excessive heat returned to the area as high temperatures ranged from 100 to 106. The Heat Index was a couple of degrees higher. St. Louis County reported one heat related death and 34 injuries. The City of St. Louis reported 19 heat related cases treated at local hospital emergency rooms.
