High temperatures in the 100 to 110 degree range, combined with humidity, produced afternoon and early evening heat indices in the 100 to 110 degree range. Overnight low temperatures were in the 70s to lower 80s. There were seven heat related deaths reported.
Wider weather episode
An unusually strong upper level ridge of high pressure, dominated the central United States with very hot and dry conditions, from July 18th through 25th 2012. Temperatures topped out from 100 to 110 degrees.
