The first back-to-back 90 degree days in and around the Philadelphia area during 2012 occurred in late May. It resulted in one heat related death in Mercer County and precipitated the early dismissal of school children in Camden on Tuesday the 29th. In Mercer County, a 47-year-old male became ill from the heat while he was working at a Waste Management plant in Hopewell Township (Mercer County). He died on June 1st. The high temperature at the Philadelphia International Airport reached 91 degrees on the 28th and 92 degrees on the 29th. The high temperature at Mercer County Airport reached 90 degrees on the 28th and 91 degrees on the 29th. A cold frontal passage preceded by strong to locally severe thunderstorms ended the early heat.
