The public reported that lightning struck two trees along Tyler Avenue knocking them down across the road.

A broad upper trough persisted across the eastern half of the United States. Meanwhile, a cold front was approaching the area from the west. Scattered afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms developed across the region in the warm, humid air mass that was present in advance of the front.
