The Halstead Fire which began on July 27th continued to burn about 18 miles north of Stanley through the month of September reaching a size of 179,000 acres. The fire approximately 18 miles north of Stanley continued and cuased occasional air quality alerts throughout the area to the east and southeast of the region. by the end of the month it was considered nearly 75 percent contained.
