Event narrative
A waterspout was observed a mature waterspout just west of Mule Key. The waterspout was observed with medium thickness, completely vertical from cloud base with a spray ring. A rain shaft was observed near the spout along with lightning. The waterspout moved toward the west at 10 mph and passed just north of Mule Key.
Wider weather episode
Waterspouts developed in association with showers and thunderstorms near Key West. The showers and thunderstorms developed along mesoscale boundary collisions over two epidodes from the afternoon through evening hours of September 28th.
