Event narrative

An 11 year old student was struck by lightning during football practice at around 4:30 pm EDT on the 3rd, right after taking the field. The student died on the afternoon of the 7th after he was removed from life support.

Wider weather episode

A stalled frontal boundary from over northern Florida and the eastern Gulf of Mexico helped fuel scattered seabreeze showers and thunderstorms across the Florida peninsula. A lightning strike from one of these storms struck and killed an 11 year old boy.
