Event narrative
Buoy 41004 reported sustained winds of 45 mph with frequent wind gusts to 58 mph.
Wider weather episode
Hurricane Sandy weakened to a tropical storm while shifting north from the Bahamas to the Southeastern United States. While traveling north, the edge of Sandy skirted along Georgia and South Carolina waters on 10/26 and 10/27. The pressure gradient field associated with Sandy was large, which eventually produced tropical storm force winds over a majority of our coastal waters through the event.
