Event narrative

Two eighteen-wheel tractor trailer vehicles collided on Interstate 55 northbound at mile marker 63, resulting in one fatality. The visibility was reduced by dense fog in the area of the accident, and Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesmen stated that they believe fog was a factor in the accident. The dense fog was patchy, as most official observing sites across central and southern Mississippi were reporting visibility of several miles at 3 am.
