Event narrative

A small area of dense fog covered Interstate 10 near Winnie just inside the Jefferson County line during Thanksgiving morning. The fog lead to a chain reaction where wrecks occurred on both sides of the interstate shutting the highway down for most of the day. Between 140 and 150 vehicles were involved in the pileup where around 80 people were injured, 10 to 12 were seriously injured, and 2 were killed. The 2 who were killed were in a Chevy Suburban that was crushed by tractor trailer.
