An avalanche occurred on the southeast slope of Survey Peak around 1700MST and killed one skier. The skier was the last of a group to descend the slope when he triggered the slide that swept him 220 feet downhill and pinned him against a tree. The depth of the slide was estimated at 26 inches across a 230-foot crown. Friends ascended the slide path and found the deceased skier after about 15 minutes.
