The National Weather Service conducted a survey and concluded the damage was the result of a microburst with winds estimated to 61 kt. The damage was about a tenth of a mile inland from the ocean.

Wider weather episode

Strong to severe thunderstorms developed during the morning, along and in the wake of a warm front. Thunderstorms ended with the passage of an early afternoon pre-frontal trough.
