A strong cold front turned mixed rain and snow over to lake effect snow showers on the night of the 30th. Those snow showers intensified during the day on the 31st, thanks to a passing upper level disturbance. Snow totals ranged from 4 to 12 inches in western Chippewa County, with the highest totals near Paradise. Further south, 5 to 8 inches of snow fell south and east of Grand Traverse Bay.
