The public reported quarter sized hail in Mt. Vernon.

Early on the 24th, a warm front was situated along the Georgia/Florida border, with an area of surface low pressure along the Florida Panhandle. The surface low worked its way slowly east and northeast along the warm front as it lifted north into central Georgia during the morning hours. A shortwave aloft pushed through the Southeast, helping provide lift for the convection that developed. Several thunderstorms developed during the morning hours; some reached severe levels with mainly hail and some tree damage reported.
