A mesonet site near Boca Grande recorded a 37 knot wind gust.
The wider storm
A gulf low pressure system developed over the central Gulf of Mexico early in the month and moved into northern Florida on the 4th. The low trailed a cold front to the south with widespread strong thunderstorms developing ahead of the front as it approached the shore.
Began near Charlotte Harbor (26.7200, -82.2600).
