Strong northerly winds developed below the Santa Ynez Mountains in southern Santa Barbara county. The RAWS sensor at Las Flores Canyon reported several hours of sustained winds between 40 and 52 MPH.
Wider weather episode
An extended northerly wind event developed across Southwestern California. The combination of strong northerly (offshore) pressure gradient and strong winds above the surface produced northerly wind gusts between 65 and 85 MPH across sections of Ventura and Los Angeles counties.
