A vacationing swimmer from Jonesboro, Arkansas became caught in a strong rip current near Gulf Shores and drowned.

Stronger winds associated with passing scattered thunderstorms combined with strong outgoing astronomical tides produced a series of deadly rip currents along the Gulf-side beaches of Alabama on Sunday June 9th and Monday June 10th.
