Event narrative

Two men were fishing in the Lacassine Wildlife Refuge when a storm approached from the east. The two tried to out run the storm in a boat but one was struck by lightning. The struck man died a few days later.

Wider weather episode

Multiple short waves moved across the region while a north flow remained in place. This caused multiple rounds of severe weather with hail, high winds, and a tornado in Louisiana from late during the 9th into the 10th.
