Event narrative

Broadcast media and newspaper articles reported numerous trees and power lines down on the northeast side of Columbus, near the Lake Bottom area. A 57-year-old woman was killed when a tree limb fell on her in her back yard at the 1200 block of 16th Street.

Wider weather episode

An active northwest flow regime remained in place on the 24th, with a strong upper disturbance moving through the Southeast. A moist and unstable airmass combined with a weak front and the upper disturbance once again allowed numerous showers and thunderstorms to develop. One of these became severe with damaging winds.
