Event narrative

An NWS Employee driving through Columbus reported damage to several manufactured homes. Based on photos and wind damage it was determined to be a microburst with winds of up to 90 mph.

Wider weather episode

A surface boundary was located across Southwest New Mexico with a weak mid level trough off to the southwest. A deep layer of moisture was in place across the region with a wet microburst reported in Columbus, NM with winds of up to 90 mph reported. In addition quarter sized hail was reported around Hurley.
