Event narrative

A bolt of lightning started a home on fire on Good Hope Road in Althol, ID. The homeowner got out safely but the fire, fueled by natural gas in the home, destroyed everything inside.

Wider weather episode

Heavy thunderstorms moved through portions of the Northern Idaho Panhandle during the early morning hours of August 10th. At approximately 0100 PST, lightning struck a house in Althol, ID starting the home on fire. A lightning bolt also hit a nearby tree killing a doe and her fawn.
