Event narrative

A 30-foot fishing vessel (Ruth) was operating near the Coos Bay north jetty when it was struck by a sneaker wave. The boat was swept into the jetty. Two passengers climbed onto the jetty, but a third passenger, a 50 year old female, was washed overboard and out to sea. She was missing for a while, but later her body was recovered by the Coast guard after a search operation.
