Several hundred people were treated for heat-related issues before, during, and after the Arkansas Razorbacks football game in Fayetteville. A couple dozen of those people were transported to the hospital due to the pronounced nature of their symptoms. The temperature in Fayetteville climbed into the mid 90s during the afternoon. This heat combined with the humidity resulted in heat index values in the upper 90s. The Wet-bulb Globe Temperature, another indicator of heat stress, approached 90 during the afternoon. This index takes into account not only the temperature and humidity but also the wind speed, sun angle, and cloud cover.
