Event narrative

Adak reported a wind gust to 63 KT, or 72 mph. Due to the location of Adak in regards to the storm and the extensive area without observations in the Central Aleutians it is reasonable to conclude that there were valid warning level winds in the area.

Wider weather episode

A strengthening low crossed the Western Aleutian Islands into the Bering Sea early on September 24th. The tight pressure gradient around the western side of the low brought strong winds to the Central Aleutian Islands.
