The Grand Canyon Airport set a new record of 94 for the day. The old record was 92F set in 2011. The high at Phantom Ranch near the Colorado River was 113F...the record there is 116F set in 1973.

Wider weather episode

A very strong high pressure center developed over northern Arizona during the last several days of June. Many new record daily highs were set or tied during this time.
