National Ocean Service tide gauge at Oregon Inlet observed a 36 knot marine thunderstorm wind gust.

A strong area of low pressure passed inland across the Piedmont of North Carolina during the 26th and 27th. Convection associated with the low pressure created a highly sheared environment which resulted in several marine thunderstorm wind gusts and a waterspout that came ashore along the Crystal Coast near Atlantic Beach.
