Event narrative

The Crane County S.O. reported 1/4 to 1/2 inch ice accumulation due to a mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow. Roads are icy.

Wider weather episode

An arctic airmass moved into the region with well below normal temperatures in it's wake. An upper trough was situated over the western Conus, and stayed there for several days. An extended period of wintry precipitation resulted over West Texas.
