The Loving county S.O. reported ice accumulation up to an inch due to a mix of freezing rain and sleet.

Wider weather episode

An arctic airmass moved into the region with well below normal temperatures in it's wake. An upper trough was situated over the western Conus, and stayed there for several days. An extended period of wintry precipitation resulted over West Texas.
