Event narrative
Strong and gusty north to northeast winds developed across the Santa Clarita Valley. The Newhall Pass RAWS sensor reported wind gusts as high as 62 MPH.
Wider weather episode
The combination of strong surface high pressure in the Great Basin and a passing upper level low produced strong and gusty northeast winds across sections of Ventura and Los Angeles counties. In the mountains, wind gusts as high as 92 MPH were reported while wind gusts in excess of 60 MPH were reported in some valley areas.
