Law enforcement reported 1/2 inch ice accumulation on roads in and near Marathon. Power outages in Marathon, Alpine and south of Alpine. 4, 849 people were without power in Marfa, Alpine, Valentine, Fort Davis and Marathon.

Wider weather episode

An arctic airmass moved into the region with well below normal temperatures in it's wake. An upper trough was situated over the western Conus, and stayed there for several days. An extended period of wintry precipitation resulted over West Texas.
