Lea County S.O. reported 1/4 ice accumulation, in addition to 2 inches of sleet and snow.

Wider weather episode

An arctic airmass moved into the region with well below normal temperatures in it's wake. An upper trough was situated over the western Conus, and stayed there for several days. An extended period of wintry precipitation resulted over southeast New Mexico.
