Event narrative

Snow in the Virgin River Gorge led to the closure of Interstate 15 after an accident which was attributed to the heavy snow which fell earlier in the evening. Roughly 300 people were stuck in their cars overnight, and there were 3 injuries (indirect) in the initial accident which led to the closure. A spotter in Colorado City measured 9 inches of snow.

Wider weather episode

A fast moving storm system brought strong winds to portions of the Mojave Desert, and heavy snow to the southern Great Basin and Arizona Strip.
